head racing

time out is good, time out is craved, time out is what i've needed

lost in thought and looking for a way out

revisiting my past this week. for years now i've been carting around old 35mm film, photo's that i took and no longer remember. most of them i have had developed and what treasures i have discovered there (some i have already posted, some of the newer ones i will post soon). Last week, before rugger bugger - which was an excellent nite - i picked up the last color roll, after it had been developed, to find images from the the 1991 GLBT Pride March in Brisbane, Queensland.

talk about a blast from the past - many faces i didn't know...some are so familiar and painful to look at because i have realized that since these photo's have been taken at least one of the faces i recognize is no longer on this mortal coil. but the images tell of celebration and of a desired hope for change and that is what still guides me, the faces of the people no longer here are a testament to all the struggles yet to come and add voice to why we struggle!!

today i picked up the last lot of photo's - a roll of black and white beauties which were taken when i was 19 hanging out with my best friend in a park in Brisbane, tripping and sucking down champers celebrating her birthday and generally living life to the full. the value of these images is, to me, incalculable. the beauty of the images, the pain behind the smiles and the knowledge of the hope which guided us in those days. i look at the people we were in those days and i am so grateful for those experiences. i miss you T.

this is one of my favourite songs to hear when i need a boost
